Is there a simple way for a non coder to identify S&P 500 stocks breaking out to stage 2 after a long stage 1 basing pattern?

Rich, I do not believe there is a "simple" solution. In my years messing about in SF, the Weinstein method is probably the most subjective. It is very much a top down approach: "let the trend be your friend" should be the motto.
Will write more later, but going for a boat ride on the mighty Mississippi today; it's the blessing of the fleet @ Portage De Sioux. (Mac, the river rat will know where thats at).
