Hi there,
I'm a beginner at trading stocks and with stockfetcher.
I recently bumped into this video called "Bouncy Ball Scan"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xKOo6vNaq8
Screenshot:
It shows how to use finvizz for filtering stocks, but I want to stick to stockfetcher.
So I created my filter, but I see different results. I see only a few overlapping results, though. I didn't know how to add "beta" to stockfetcher, so I excluded it in finvizz as well.
Could anyone be so kind as to check my filter?
Here it is:
Thank you!

A few suggestions:
Your line "close is 70% above 52 week low" is probably only picking stocks at 70% and not the ones above 70% as the video seems to imply.
Your line "price is more than 5% below 20 days high" is probably excluding those stocks at 5%.
When checking scanned lists between SF and another program, I like to go one line at a time and compare the results between the 2 to see the differences in the stock groups each program is checking.
SF has a Beta indicator, based on 36 months, but will only work for the current day, SF doesn't make historical Beta values available. At the top of your forum page enter "beta" in the search bar and scroll down until you see the post on fundamental data in SF
Hope this helps some,
Ed S.

Hello buckoimre
I was wondering if you have used the bouncy ball scan over the past year.
Thanks

Ed,
You wrote: "SF has a Beta indicator, based on 36 months, but will only work for the current day, SF doesn't make historical Beta values available."
So how is the Beta calculated on only the "current day?" If Beta shows as 1.25, what does it mean? That the price of the stock (today) went up 25% over that of SPX (or SPY) today? Or what?
I'm not challenging your statement ... I just need to know how SF's Beta is calculated on 1 day?
Thanks, Ed.

Hey Gene,
Beta is calculated each trading day by SF based on 36 months of data according to the link I previously cited.
The result of that calculation is only available for 1 day on SF.
If you go back farther in time the beta value returned will be the very same as the one seen for the current day. So no BETA history is available on SF for any stock.
There is Beta history chart available on the Zacks website but their BETA appears to be based on 5 years of data, though when I look at the Beta value on SF and Zacks for MSFT, for the most current trading day, they are both saying 0.93.
I suspect whatever online broker you use for trading has current and historical beta available...
Hope this helps explain my earlier post on Beta.
Ed S.
PS. add these 2 lines to a filter and you'll see what SF gives for older beta values(absolutely nothing!)
add column beta
add column beta 5 days ago
