I swing trade for a living and love it. Is there anyone else doing this?

I buy blue chip stocks in strong uptrends. I wait until a down day to buy. I was doing very well this month($3400 profit since Jan 1), until I decided to sell my Apple Calls after they broke through a major support level. That trade killed all my profits and now I am down $800 for the month.I learned my lesson to use stops and will not allow for such a large loss in the future. I decided to buy some Boeing May calls today and of course there was another emergency on one of their planes. I only bought a few contracts just in case so not worried.

I attempt to swing trade.. My personality is better suited for day trading...
My strategy is to buy support when in an uptrend and sell resistance in a down trend, but I mix it up to much.
I did start a swing short today with long SDS at the close.. my stop is above today's high on SPX I posted a few days ago that SPX 1476 was my spot to short.
I also started a long VXX per my oversold filter. I will dump it if VIX closes below 13.20

Long VXX is a tough way to make a living, but good luck :)

I don't trace VIX calls often, only when I feel the market is overbought or oversold.

casinotech,
I Swing Trade the 2x and 3x stocks per the Tetter Totter Principle within my MDP (million dollar portfolio) and very very successful at it.
For the First phase ....trade long and shorts of the 10 sectors ie...DIA, SPY, QQQ, KBE, IYE GLD, SMH, IYR, XLB, IEO.
For the second phase... trade the sector pairs. Basically, you'll be in one stock or the other at all times.
for the SPY sector.... SSO/SDS
for the QQQ sector.... QLD/QID.....TQQQ/SQQQ
for the KBE sector.....UYG/SKF
Trade when the 13ema crosses up an over the 50ema for a buy and the inverse to sell.
The third phase is for the fast Swing Traders. Do what Simon Sez to do. Trade per the labels and or the bubbles per the TOS charts.

3x groups.....ie...SPXL/SPXS ...FAS/FAZ et., al..

The most difficult thing to do is to wait and wait for the xovers. Be the spider and let the prey come to you.
In review:
Trade the 10 sector stocks long and shorts
Trade the 2x pairs within the sectors.
Trade the 3x pairs.
The VIX groups.
VXX, VXZ / XXV
TVIX / XIV

The list goes on and on with other various pairs. ie....gold, silver and other metals.

Nice charts I like the KST.
Do you buy on the cross or on the pullback?
I really try to avoid shorting when price is above the 20.
Any other rules you try not to break?
