8/24/2013 9:02:45 PM Does anyone care to share a long filter that is profitable for these dates? The best one I have is from LEVAMIT, no stop, hold Min 1 day and Max 3 days, 1 trade per day, 5K/ trade. does well for the last 2 years except for the current 4 months. |

12/15/2013 2:04:13 PM Still no input? Hard to find a profitable LONG filter during this time span. |

12/15/2013 2:35:36 PM How about this? Filter is still proprietary but is basically a daytrading strategy using only S&P 500 stocks. Note that the backtest period was 4/29/11 through 8/31/11 with a cumulative return of 28%. |

12/16/2013 8:51:29 AM Kevin.. Impressive numbers, obviously not something backtested here at SF. I was looking for anyone that had a long (not daytrade) filter that ran positive backtest results here on SF during that time frame. I'm sure there must be some that work with the proper entry and exit strategy. |

12/16/2013 10:10:29 AM I don't even bother to backtest here at SF any more - their capabilities are too limited. I now do all of my system development and backtesting using Stratasearch. This is a long only strategy that buys intraday but all trades are closed at the end of the days' trading session. Why hold for more than one day if you can get this type of performance intraday? |

12/16/2013 10:20:27 AM For those that can't sit at the computer all day are the entry limit buy orders set before the open and sell EOD? |
Kevin_in_GA 4,599 posts msg #117376 - Ignore Kevin_in_GA |
12/16/2013 11:20:43 AM No, because you are monitoring the entire S&P 500 for a specific intraday signals without knowing which stocks will trigger first. However, this is easily automated (buy and sell) so that it does it without human interference. The trick is finding a reliable automated trading platform. This particular strategy could be coded in a single line of code for entry or exit on some platforms (e.g., StrategyDesk from TDAmeritrade), or in NinjaTrader with a little more work. |
